Driving in Dhaka is not for the faint hearted. Traffic rules and suggestions are mostly taken as guidelines. However it is not a free for all that one might think think when one looks at the the supposed traffic mess. There, indeed, is a method in the madness. The simplest rule is that the smaller vehicle gives way to the larger vehicle. And use your horns.
If you do want to drive in Dhaka or other parts of Bangladesh, you need to get a local drivers license from the Bangladesh Roads Transport Authority (BRTA). To know more about the process of obtaining a driver license and contacting their office, please visit the BRTA.
